The 5050 Project

Over the course of the school year, Chicago Public Radio teamed up with students and faculty at Paul Robeson High School to create Fifty-fifty: a new, interactive site for sharing stories.

We met with students weekly for recorded discussions and interviews. You can listen to that raw, unedited audio on this site.

Chicago Public Radio featured members of the Robeson community in several broadcasts.

You can listen to a culminating round table discussion of administrators, students, and teachers, as well as listen to the pieces produced for the 5050 series on WBEZ's site.

You can also hear more student interviews on Vocalo.org.

While reporting on Robeson for the 5050 series has ended, we hope that this site continues to function as a public space for members of the Robeson community to share and discuss stories, photos, videos, and ideas.

Check out this audio, the latest in our round of interviews on student issues at Robeson. Folks reacted to the pulling of fire alarms, spoke on school safety, and principals.

So when that class comes up, they think in their mind like “I am cutting the class because I can’t face this”. The second reason why kids cu… Continue
